Getting paid: where your money goes, step by step

For shops, restaurants and service providers: how a sale turns into money in your bank, what Ryde keeps and why, cash sales and deposits, tips, refunds and cancellations.

Money on Ryde is simple once you know the four places it can be: in the customer's hands, in Ryde's hands, in your ledger, or in your bank. This page walks that path from a sale to a payout, and tells you plainly what Ryde keeps.

Where the money goes

Every sale lands in your ledger first. A payout moves it to your bank.
  1. The customer paysBy card, Ryde wallet, PayPal or cash, depending on what you accept. Card, wallet and PayPal money is collected by Ryde. Cash goes straight into your hand.
  2. The order completesWhen an order is delivered, a job is finished or a till sale is paid, a line appears in your ledger: the sale, minus Ryde's commission, equals your net for that order.
  3. The money clearsCard money becomes requestable when the card network releases it (usually a few days). PayPal money clears a few days after the payment is captured. Wallet money is available at once. The app shows what is requestable right on the button.
  4. You request a payoutOpen "Earnings" and tap "Request payout". Only an owner or a manager can do this.
  5. Ryde reviews and paysA person at Ryde checks the request, confirms the money is still there, and sends it to the payout account you saved. Your request shows as Pending, then Processing, then Paid. If it is Declined you see the reason and can request again.

Payouts are requested, not automatic. There is no fixed payday. If you never tap "Request payout", the money stays in your ledger.

Set up your payout account once

Payout details: your bank, once.

Open "Payouts" and fill in "Payout details": the account holder's full name, the bank, the account number and, for a United States account, the routing number, the account type and the holder's address. Tap "Save payout". You can do this any time after you apply; it is not part of the application.

Cash sales and the cash deposit

Cash is yours the moment you take it. Ryde's share is what you deposit later.

When a customer pays cash, you keep the whole amount, including Ryde's commission. That commission is written to your cash float: a running total of platform money you are holding. It is never taken from your card payouts by surprise. You settle it yourself, at the bank.

  1. Look at what you oweOpen "Deposit cash". It shows "Platform cash you hold", the oldest unpaid line, the due date and your limit.
  2. Deposit at the bankDeposit that amount into the account shown under "Deposit to this account". Keep the receipt.
  3. Report the depositTap "Report a deposit", enter the amount, attach a photo of the receipt and tap "Submit deposit". Most receipts are verified in seconds. A rejected receipt re-opens the amount, so photograph it clearly.

The seven-day grace and the freeze

Seven days from the oldest unpaid till sale.

Every paid till sale adds Ryde's commission to your cash float. The oldest unpaid line sets the clock: you have seven days from that sale to deposit. Two days before the due date the deposit screen turns to a warning. Past the due date the till freezes: it will not start a new sale, open a new shift, open a free table or start a new check until a deposit is verified.

Commissions, disclosed plainly

One receipt, two parts: your net and Ryde's commission.

Ryde earns a commission on each order. The rate is not one flat number: it is tiered by the size of the ticket, so a small order pays a different percentage from a large one, and the tiers are set by Ryde for your market. You never have to calculate it. Every order in "Earnings" shows gross sales, the commission and your net, line by line, and the ledger keeps every one of those lines.

SaleWhat Ryde keepsHow you receive the rest
Delivery or pickup order paid by card, wallet or PayPalThe tiered commission on the items. The delivery fee is split between Ryde and the courier; none of it is yours to pay.Net lands in your ledger; request a payout.
Delivery or pickup order paid in cashThe same tiered commission, added to your cash float. You already hold the cash. Deposit Ryde's share.
Service booking (service price, plus any travel charge)The tiered commission on the service price, and on the distance travel charge if you set one.Card, wallet or PayPal: net to your ledger. Cash: you hold it; deposit Ryde's share.
Till (POS) saleThe till commission for your market, if one is set. It is added to your cash float, because you collected that sale yourself. You keep the sale. Deposit Ryde's share within seven days.

The exact tiers are shown inside the app on every order. This page deliberately prints no percentage, because the tiers can differ by market and change over time; the number on your order is always the true one.

The payment-processing fee: paid by the customer, not by you

When a customer pays by card or through their wallet, the card network charges for moving the money. Ryde passes that cost to the customer as a separate line on their receipt: 5% plus US$0.60 on card and wallet payments, and 10% plus US$1.20 on PayPal, converted to your currency. It is added on top of your price. It is never deducted from your sale, and it is never counted as Ryde's revenue. Cash payments carry no processing fee at all.

Tips

Till tips are yours and show in Earnings.

A tip added at the till ("Gratuity" on a check or a counter sale) is recorded on the receipt, on the shift report and in "Earnings" under "Tips". It is yours. Ride tips work the same way for drivers. Delivery and pickup orders placed in the app do not carry a tip to your store today, so do not count on one; your price is your price.

Refunds

When an order you were paid for is cancelled or rejected, the customer's money goes back to their Ryde wallet. It never goes back to their card or bank, and it is done once, atomically, so a refund can never be paid twice. A cash order refunds nothing, because no money moved. A refund reverses the ledger line for that order, so your net and the commission both disappear together.

Cancellations, by vertical

No cancellation fee on orders or bookings. Honesty is the rule.
WhereWhat happens
Shops and restaurants: a delivery or pickup orderTap "Reject order" only when you truly cannot fulfil it. The customer is told and a paid order is refunded to their wallet. There is no cancellation fee. An order nobody answers is cancelled by the system and refunded. Repeated rejections lower your store's ranking.
Service providers: a booking"Decline" a request you cannot take; the customer is told to book another provider, their wallet is refunded and the time slot is freed. A request left unanswered expires after 45 minutes. No fee either way.
The till: a counter sale or an open checkTill tickets are voided, never cancelled. A void needs a reason from the list, a cashier needs a manager's PIN, and the owner is e-mailed. The void reverses the commission line on your cash float.
Rides (for drivers)Riders may owe a cancellation fee after a driver has accepted; that is a driver topic, explained in the driver pages.

A Ryde One member's free delivery is paid by Ryde, never by you: the courier is paid in full and your net is untouched.

Reading your Earnings screen

Perk: your on-time completion and rating feed your merchant tier under "Rewards & tier", and "Invite and earn" pays a wallet bonus after a friend you invite completes their first ride. See Culture and perks.
